Your funds are safe.

The former branches of Horizon Bank reopened on Saturday, January 9, 2010 as branches of Washington Federal. Your funds are safe, insured by the FDIC to at least $250,000 per account ownership, so there is no need for you to change your banking relationship to retain deposit insurance coverage.


Continue banking as usual.

Until we can fully integrate Horizon Bank’s operations into Washington Federal, you should continue to do your banking at your neighborhood Horizon office. Checks drawn on Horizon Bank will continue to be processed, online banking is still available via the Horizon Bank website, and you will continue to have access to your money through your Horizon ATM/debit card.


CD terms will change.

If you have a certificate of deposit with Horizon Bank, please be advised that the maturity date has not changed; however, the interest rates will be adjusted to match the rates Washington Federal is currently paying its own clients. You may either enter into a new CD agreement with Washington Federal or withdraw your CD deposit without penalty until maturity. Please contact your local branch for a current rate sheet.
